If you’re a sneakerhead, chances are you’ve come across a fake pair of sneakers before. It’s not uncommon for counterfeiters to create knock-offs of popular shoes, and the Jordan 4 Black Canvas is no exception. So how can you spot a fake? Here are some tips to help you identify the fake Air Jordan 4 Black Canvas. But first, let’s go through our preliminary steps.
How To Tell If You have a Fake Air Jordan 4 Black Canvas
Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Toe Area
As you can see in the images above, the toe box features a rough suede material that is greyish on the fake Air Jordan 4 Black Canvas pair, while the authentic pair appears to be covered with a smoother nubuck leather overlay ( see yellow arrows and circles). Additionally, the netting edges on the extension of the tongue is is wider on the fakes, see yellow rectangles.
Back
The back overlay is slightly higher on the fakes, see yellow line. Also the Jumpman logo is placed lower on the real pair, you can see how the foot is almost adjacent to the edge of the heel overlay. The red line shows you how much lower the Jumpman is placed on the authentic pair, but it also shows you how wider the fake pair. The yellow circles point out the differences in the heel tabs ( darker and more vivid on the real pair).
Also the Jumpman logo is snow white on the authentic pair but of greyer color on the fake ( it appears white and grey on the fakes, close in on it and you’ll see it).
Air Unit
The air chamber is more rounded on the back and front on the real pair ( zero in on the shape, you’ll see the nuances immediately).
Insoles
The red color on the Jumpman logo is more shiny on the fake Air Jordan 4 Black Canvas.
The wording on the back of the insole is first larger on the fakes but the print looks awful as well ( poor craftsmanship).
Box
The fake Air Jordan 4 Black Canvas comes in a much smaller box, every single picture above shows you the differences in length, width and height between both pairs.
