Another giveaway is the size sticker: the authentic pair includes bilingual text with both “MENS SIZE” and “TAILLE HOMMES,” while the fake sticker only displays the English sizing information.
Turning the insoles over reveals another difference. The authentic foam backing has a slightly off-white or greyish tint that makes the embossed references stand out more clearly, while the fake backing is brighter white with shallower embossing that is noticeably harder to read.
Outsole
The molded “JORDAN” branding on the authentic pair is slightly larger, deeper, and easier to read than the shallower lettering found on the fake Jordan 5 Black Carolina, see red arrows. The black plastic insert also differs in size, with the authentic insert appearing slightly larger and more proportionate, see red box. The most noticeable distinction, however, is the color of the icy outsole. The authentic pair features a lighter, brighter icy blue rubber, while the fake pair has a darker tint that leans slightly toward purple.
Back
Both the inner liner and the embroidered Jumpman logo feature a deeper, more saturated Carolina blue on the authentic pair. By contrast, the fake pair uses a noticeably lighter shade of blue for both elements.
Packaging ( Box and label)
The authentic box is slightly larger overall and features a smoother, more reflective lid, making the embossed Jumpman face difficult to see under certain lighting conditions. By contrast, the fake box has a duller finish that makes the embossed graphic more noticeable.
The front panel of the authentic box also appears cleaner, with fewer visible corrugated lines, while the fake box displays more pronounced horizontal pressure marks across the cardboard.
The label provides another useful authentication point.
- Authentic Box: The numbers and letters are printed in a bolder, darker font. The sizing information (USA, EURO, UK, CM) stands out more clearly and appears sharper overall.
- Fake Box: The printing is thinner and lighter. The numbers don’t have the same visual weight, making the label appear less crisp.
The difference is particularly noticeable in:
- USA 12
- EURO 46
- UK 11
- CM 30
These characters are visibly heavier on the authentic label.
