If you’re a sneakerhead, then you know that the Jordan 1 Bred Toe is one of the most coveted shoes out there. But with its popularity comes a lot of fake versions of the shoe flooding the market. So how can you spot a fake Air Jordan 1 Bred Toe? Here are some quick tips to legit check your pair. But first, let’s go through our preliminary steps.
How To Tell If Your Air Jordan 1 Bred Toe Is Fake
Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Back: Liner & Spacing
As you can see, the heel liner is much thicker on the authentic pair, see yellow arrows. I also added the yellow line to show you how much deeper the leather cut is on the legitimate pair.
Midsole Pattern
The markings on the midsole are more apparent on the real pair. You can still see them on the fake Air Jordan 1 Bred Toe but they are a bit more subtle.
Toe Area: Perforations
The holes/perforations are bigger on the Fake Air Jordan 1 Bred toe pair. Also if you zero in on the placement of the perforations, on the first set of holes coming from the left, the first hole of the fake pair correspond to the second hole on the real pair. ( see yellow line).
Medial Side: Leather Material
The leather used on the fake pair is slightly of a harder texture, see yellow squares. You’ll notice that the leather is softer on the real pair. The yellow arrow shows you how much thicker the edges are on the fakes. And the red circle shows you the crooked stitching on the replica pair.
Wings logo
It’s a bit hard to see but the wings logo of the real pair is slightly glossier. Also zero in on the spacing between the elements. The spacing between the feathers, ball and text is slightly wider on the retail pair. But I do have to admit that the replica pair looks immaculate.
Lace bag
The lace bag is shorter on the real pair, and the color tone is also different ( more blood like on the authentic pair).
Insoles: Back
There is almost no parallel lines ( patterns) on the back of the fake pair’s insole as opposed to the very vivid lines on the legitimate pair.
Box label
The font of the letters and numbers is bolder on the fake Air Jordan 1 Bred Toe, see all the red squares.
