The Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant will forever be etched in my memory as one of the most significant shoes in the story of Housakicks. The year was 2009 when I first came into contact with this shoe, and I was immediately sold on it. Nike went on to release them again in 2010 and 2012, and if I’m not mistaken, a couple more times because every time they dropped, they had a short shelf life, at least in the DC area, known for being the Foamposite capital.
Nike has been on a recycling spree as of late, bringing back some of the marquee colorways of the Foams, and the Eggplant is making another return within the next 24 hours. I have always said that the Foams were built like a German tank, and I still stand strong behind this statement. The 2024 Foamposite One Eggplant will mirror its original 2009 pair with Varsity Purple foam shells, a Black mesh and nubuck upper, complemented by a matching Black carbon fiber plate beneath. The “1 Cent” logo of Penny Hardaway can be seen at the heels while an icy translucent outsole completes its look.

Air Foamposite One Eggplant: Resale Value

The chart gives us a summary of the average sale price of the shoe since the 26th of February. As you can see, prices went from $259 on the 26th down to $253 the very next day and are currently $247. They went down by an average of $5.83 per day and are most likely going to go further down when the shoe releases officially. Let’s see what the five number summary reveals,
Minimum: 219
Quartile Q1: 230
Median: 241
Quartile Q3: 267.25
Maximum: 376
The lowest sale recorded was $219, size 9 while the highest was $376, size 15. About 25% of the shoes sold between $219 and $230 ( see next chart for sizes) while half of them sold between $230 and $267.25. The top 25% sale were between $267.25 and $376. There were two outliers, $333 and $376 corresponding sizes 14 and 15 ( that shouldn’t be a surprise). With the outliers disregarded, the overall average resale value is $249 with a 10% volatility.
At $249, you’re looking at a -$27 loss, not a good sign for those looking to resell this shoe. There might be sizes worth pursuing, see next chart.

Observation
As you can see from the records above, 69% of the sales led to losses, that is sizes 8-12. 15% led to earnings under $10, sizes 12.5 and 13 while sizes 14 and 15 generated the most profits with $41 and $88 in returns respectively. The verdict is very clear, with close to 70% of the sales generating losses and 15% leading to mark ups under normal, I would not recommend reselling this shoe at all unless you can get your hands on sizes 14 and above. These are the only sizes that are generating mark ups that are considerable.
And I also won’t recommend investing in it for the long term unless you’re able to grab the larger sizes I mentioned. The shoe will probably sell out via retail but that’s about it, there is no capitalizing on it for resellers.
