Ever since LaMelo Ball made his much-anticipated debut in the NBA, fans have been clamoring for his first signature shoe. PUMA has not disappointed, with a succession of colorways that have perfectly captured LaMelo’s electric playing style. The brand is continuing this success with the second installment of the MB.02. They are releasing at the perfect time, right before the NBA season begins. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome the PUMA MB.02 Supernova.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Puma MB.02 is that it looks very similar to the MB.01. That’s because Puma has adopted the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy with this shoe. The modifications made to the skeleton are almost undetectable to the naked eye. But upon closer inspection, you’ll see that the MB.02 is actually a bit more curvaceous than its predecessor. This sleeker design makes the shoe more aerodynamic, which is perfect for players like Lamelo Ball who rely on speed and quickness to get by their defenders. And what can we say about the debuting colorway?
The fiery coal hue is reminiscent of a supernova—the explosion of a star. It is the largest explosion that takes place in space. Just like Lamelo and his teammates, this sneaker will sure light up the court. Here’s what Puma had to say about it,
Its foundation is a NITRO foam-infused midsole, which mimics the signature wings of none other than Melo himself. This theme extends to the engineered woven mesh upper, which makes for a wide-spanning and impressive style statement. Tonal metallic accents add a touch of luster to these court-ready shoes, while the instantly recognizable “1 of 1” branding leaves no doubt that these sneaks are in a league of their own. Whether you’re a diehard sneakerhead or just a casual observer, it’s impossible to deny that the MB.02 Supernova is exploding onto the scene in a big way.
Design Details That Will Make You Do a Double Take
CUSHIONING: NITRO foam-infused midsole for superior responsiveness and comfort while remaining lightweight—perfect for high-energy, explosive playstyles.
The first thing you’ll notice about the MB.02 Supernova is its cushioned NITRO foam-infused midsole. This feature provides superior responsiveness and comfort while remaining lightweight, making it perfect for high-energy, explosive playstyles like Lamelo’s. Additionally, the NITRO foam makes the MB.02 one of the most comfortable sneakers on the market; you’ll be able to wear them all day without having to worry about your feet getting tired or sore.
GRIP: Full-coverage engineered nonslip rubber compound with feather (a nod to Melo’s signature wings)
The next thing you’ll notice is the full-coverage engineered nonslip rubber compound with feather tread pattern. This feature provides enhanced durability and traction, making them ideal for quick cuts and spot up jumpers like Lamelo often makes on the court. The feather tread pattern is also a nod to Melo’s signature wings, adding an extra touch of style to an already stylish sneaker.
FIT: Disruptive upper construction made with engineered woven mesh and multizone mixed materials for targeted support, comfort, and breathability in a lightweight package.
Finally, the disruptive upper construction made with engineered woven mesh and multizone mixed materials provides targeted support, comfort, and breathability in a lightweight package. This makes the MB.02 perfect for athletes who need support but don’t want to sacrifice comfort or breathability.
All in all, the Lamelo Ball Puma MB.02 Supernova is a sneaker that checks all the boxes. It’s cushioned, comfortable, stylish, and supportive; what more could you ask for? If you’re in the market for a new pair of sneakers, be sure to give the MB.02 a try.

Puma MB.02 Supernova: Resale Value
So far, there is only one recorded sale, for a size 11, that sold for $185, this is a small sample size. But that doesn’t mean that we are unable to project how the shoe is going to perform on third party marketplaces. Let’s see what sellers are currently asking for it.

Based on the records above, the average asking price is about $245. Now let’s see what buyers are actually offering for the shoe at the moment.

I had to disregard many of the offers because they were below $70. The records above are more reasonable and lead to an average offer of $119, which is still below the MSRP. To come up with a good estimate of the resale value, we’ll compute the mean between buyers and sellers.
Resale Value projected: ($245+$119)/2= $182
This is interesting because the current recorded sale is $185. At $182, the projected earning is about $28, a 20% mark up ( 1.4 times above average). So this is a good shoe to resell, it will definitely sell out via retail and I’m sure prices are going to exceed the projected $180.

“ definitely going to sell out retail “
They still haven’t sold out a week later … not even in one size. What happened ? Lack of demand or too much supply? I’m a long hold, and looking for if you still feel the same?
This has been a huge surprise for me but I think I know why they haven’t sold out. The lack of marketing has caused that to happen. Puma thought people were just going to gravitate toward it without really making a big splash about it. I didn’t even know a second installment was releasing until I decided to check the release calendar, that’s awful. But yes, These definitely should be a long hold. I’m still sold on them eventually becoming a must have item
Melo being hurt to start the season has something to do with it. Once he starts doing his thing these will take off like the Queen City MB.01
You have a very solid point.
