The Air Jordan 3 Fire Red is one of the most recognizable sneakers in history. The shoe was originally introduced in 1988 as part of the original four Air Jordan 3 releases, which also included the “White Cement,” “Black Cement,” and “True Blue” colors. The “Fire Red” 3 was re-released in 2007 and 2013, both times with the Jumpman emblem on the heels. The shoe will finally now be released in its OG form in 2022, complete with the Grey-on-Black elephant design and OG Nike Air on the heels.
The “Fire Red” colorway is one of the most popular AJ3 colorways, and it’s not hard to see why. The striking red and grey color scheme is eye-catching and unique, and it’s a colorway that always turns heads when seen on the streets. The 2022 release will be a highly anticipated release, as sneakerheads have been waiting for years for an OG-style rerelease of this iconic colorway. For purchase purposes, refer to the details below

Stock Numbers

As you can see from the image above, the number of pairs produced is relatively high. A total of 75,006 pairs have already been issued via Nike Snkrs on early access, but the image above reveals that the expected pairs for Saturday September 10th will also be numerous. We can assume that just half of the set has been released thus far, with the remaining half set to be revealed on September 10th. That brings the total number of Nike SNKRs sold to 150,000. If we assume that Nike only acquired around one-third of the overall inventory, the estimated stock figures for the United States are:
Stock Numbers= 150,000 pairs x 3= 450,000 pairs
I’ll provide you with more accurate numbers by Saturday, one thing is certain, there will be a substantial number of pairs available.
Update: The actual numbers that were released via Nike SNKRS on Saturday were 186,594 pairs. Remember that other retailers were also allocated an inventory.
Jordan 3 Fire Red: Resale Value

Observations
The chart above gives us a breakdown of the average sale price of the shoe since September 7, 2022. As you can see, the resale value went from $231 to $238 within a 24 hour period, increasing by $7. But this could be due to a various factors i.e. certain sizes might sell higher than others. We need to investigate this a little further. But even at $238, there is no profit but a loss of -$8 incurred. Let’s find our five number summary for further details.
Minimum: 188
Quartile Q1: 221.75
Median: 233.5
Quartile Q3: 248
Maximum: 334
The lowest the shoe sold for was $188 ( size 8.5), recorded on September 7th, while the highest sale was $334, ( size 14), recorded on the 7th of September as well. 25% of the shoes sold for prices from $188 to $222 ( 4 size 8, 5 size 8.5, 3 size 9, and 2 size 9.5). 50% sold for prices between $222 and $248 ( a size 8.5, a 9, 8 size 10, 7 size 10.5, 5 size 11, and 2 size 12). Another 25% sold for values from $248 to $334 ( a size 8, 2 size 9.5, 2 size 11.5, a size 12.5, 3 size 13, and size 14). There were two outliers ( $290 and $334) corresponding to size 12.5 and 14. Now let’s take a look at the current earnings per size sold of the shoe, and then draw our conclusion.

54% of the sales resulted in losses ( sizes 8-11). 31% led to profit margins under $20 ( size 11.5,12, 13 and 15). And the remaining 15% resulted in earnings between $41 and $90 ( sizes 12.5 and 14). So what can we say about this shoe?
There are only two sizes that are worth targeting at this point, sizes 12.5 and 14 according to the data. Every other size leads to earnings under $20 or major losses, so I would not recommend reselling the Air Jordan 3 Fire Red. At least not right away, we did see that the shoe is trending up, but you can expect the current margins to drop by up to 5% when it releases officially ( the numbers produced are substantial). It could be a smart long term investment option as prices might peak at $300 within the next 12 months, for a 22% mark up ( pretty good).
The shoe will certainly sell out but you can still expect scattered sizes around in various retailers’ stores, so I’ll encourage you not to pay more than 10% above retail for this shoe. With a lot of patience, you’ll be able to get a pair for a decent price.
