It’s been 30 years since the original “Dream Team” won gold at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, and to celebrate, Jordan Brand is releasing a special edition Air Jordan 7. The Trophy Room Air Jordan 7 “New Sheriff In Town” is a tribute to that legendary team, and it’s one of the most hotly anticipated sneaker releases of the year. Here’s a closer look at the shoe and its connection to the team that wowed the world in 1992.
The shoe is a reminder of one of the most iconic teams in basketball history. The 1992 U.S. Olympic team, nicknamed the “Dream Team,” was one of the most star-studded rosters ever assembled. The team featured 12 future Hall of Famers, including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley. The team cruised through the Olympics, winning their games by an average of 43 points.
The Dream Team was so dominant that they sparked a global interest in basketball. The team’s success helped spread the game of basketball to countries all over the world.
A Subtle Nod To The Jordan 7 Olympic
The shoe features a premium suede sneaker that takes its cues from the original Air Jordan 7 Olympic that was worn by Michael Jordan during the 1992 games. The colors of the Olympic ring are used on the heel tabs, with “Monte Carlo” and “1992” printed on the insoles as a nod to where the Dream Team practiced before their big games. Other details include Michael Jordan’s signature on the heels, Metallic Gold branded hardware, and “New sheriff in town” embroidered behind the tongue – a reference to MJ’s infamous quote to Larry Bird and Magic Johnson during the team’s scrimmages.
This shoe is not only a tribute to one of the greatest basketball teams of all time, but it’s also a testament to Jordan Brand’s marketing genius. By releasing this limited edition sneaker, they’ve created buzz and excitement around their brand 30 years after the Dream Team’s historic victory. Observations
The chart gives us a breakdown of the average sale price of the shoe by size, as well as the profits generated by each. As you can see, 23% of the sales resulted in earnings between $45 and $70 ( sizes 7, 8.5 and 9). Another 23% led o profit margins from $75 to $100 ( sizes 7.5, 8 and 9.5). 46% generated returns between $110 and $170 ( sizes 10 to 13) and size 14 led to the highest margin with a $248 return. So what can we conclude about this shoe?
This is definitely one of the better shoes to resell this week. Even the stock numbers are relatively high, there are strong chances that they would be relatively limited, certainly under 50,000 pairs. The best sizes to target are sizes 10 and above as they produce mark ups between 48% and 104% ( 3.2 to 7 times above average). The current margins might drop by 1% to 5% when the shoe releases officially but this is still a very good shoe to resell.
