First Look At The Paul George Nike PG1 2K

The Indiana Pacers finished as the first seed in the Eastern Conference during the 2013-14 NBA regular season. Paul Georges was the rising star on the team and played alongside former all stars D. Granger, D. West and R Hibbert. We all thought the Pacers were on the way to win a title; but standing in their way was the Miami Heat big three ( Lebron James, Wade and Chris Bosh). Both teams went on to meet in the ECF where the Heat led by LJ won the series (4-2). In that year’s Summer , Paul Georges faced another setback when he sustained a gruesome leg injury during the Team USA exhibition game in Vegas. I didn’t think he was going to come back from that injury; but the man is back in his all star form again and putting up all star numbers. The Pacers are now in “rebuild mode” and are a borderline playoff team. PG has been frustrated and recently apologized for criticizing the refs for not giving him many calls.

Three days ago I was wondering why Nike was not honoring Paul Georges with his own signature shoes and the answer I receive was

Not Everyone can have their own signature shoes, Nike just doesn’t operate like that

I left the topic alone and to my surprise today, I learned that the 6’10 SF has just received his first signature shoes from Nike- the Paul George’s Nike PG1 2k. It’s a low profile, lightweight basketball shoe that was engineered by designer Tony Hardman in collaboration with PG himself. The shoes feature a forefoot strap supported by flywire cables for an adaptive/ lockdown fit. They also sport  Zoom Air units at the forefoot for a low profile yet responsive cushioning. I don’t have the shoes on hand so I’m not going to say anything about performance yet; one thing I know is that PG is a versatile SF with tremendous offensive skills ( he has a mid range, he can shoot the triple, can put the ball on the floor, can pass, he is a dunker and an above average on ball defender)- with that said , I’ll assume that the shoes were engineered with his on court abilities in mind. I can’t wait to actually test the shoes on the court. Nike’s key features are as follows :
