I wrote a post yesterday about the possible number of pairs of the Air Jordan 5 SE Michigan made, see link below. The post also talks about the shoe’s third party market value for those that are interested in reselling it. Retailers can benefit this post too so I’ll invite you all to read it
This morning though I want to warn you about the replica pair of the Jordan 5 SE Michigan I’ve come across. The shoe is limited and has a decent third party marketplace value so it shouldn’t be a surprise to us that bootleggers are targeting it. I don’t have an authentic pair on hands to do a side by side comparison; so I leaned on images I’ve fetched from Nike and other retailers’s site. Here are quick ways to identify the bootleg pair
The pattern of the panel’s netting is obviously not the same between both pairs. The holes on the fake pair’s netting are more spaced out; they are also a lot smaller. I’ve used two different pictures to stress this out.
The leather material used on the authentic pair is a bit hairy as you can see from the picture above. The fake pair appears to be too smooth.
The tongue is always one of the elements of the shoes that bootleggers tend to struggle with. The fake pair’s tongue is too short.
The box label is supposed to be white with dark prints, no comments needed on this one.
The authentic pair has a QR code that can be scanned; scanning it with your phone should take you directly to the Nike Snkrs app.
I didn’t find any pictures of the inside label of the authentic pair so I chose to show you a picture of the fake pair’s label. The QR code on the label will definitely not take you to the Nike Snkrs app. So that is one of the way you can quickly identify the fake pair. And be sure to also zero in on the production date ( the fake pairs are usually have an earlier production date so stay away from anyone who offers you a pair with the characteristics above).
PS: The Real VS Fake posts require a lot of time to write because replica/counterfeits are getting better and spotting their flaws is a meticulous task. I understand that some of you may still be unsure about the authenticity of your sneakers, this is why I’m providing the video below to give additional help. Be sure to watch it in its entirety and don’t forget to subscribe to my website. Your support is greatly appreciated
Don’t be fooled with the StockX authentication tag, I wrote an article that discusses this issue, see link below
There you have it folks, I’ll be updating the post as soon as I have access to better pictures.
