Welcome back to another edition of legit check, today we’ll learn how to spot and identify the Fake Air Jordan 1 Low Starfish. This is a shoe that was relatively limited and it is also a very familiar colorway. I wrote a projection post on it several days ago, click here for access. Areas we’ll focus on are the side panels, the heel, the midsole, the toe area, the tongue area, the insole, the box label, inside label and more.
But first let’s go through our preliminary steps.
1. Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
2.Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Lateral Side
The leather underlay is very smooth on the mid section of the fake pair ( zero in on the yellow circles). The swoosh logo is deformed on the counterfeit pair ( se yellow arrow). The holes aren’t complete on the fakes ( there is always s small layer of leather in there). The gap between the first set of holes and the forefoot overlay is smaller on the legitimate pair ( see green lines).
Heel
The wings logo is glossy on the authentic pair but very dull and flat on the fake pair. The gap between the heel tab and the midsole is wider on the real pair.
The pattern of the midsole is ascending on the fakes and descending on the legitimate pair ( see red square). The “TM” text has a thicker font on the fake Air Jordan 1 low starfish.
Tongue Tab
The Nike Air text is almost adjacent to the edge of the tab on the authentic pair.
Insole
The letters on the insole of the legitimate pair are much thinner and spaced out ( zero in on the I the K and the E). Moreover the ink used on the fake pair is of cheap quality, it will fade out as soon as the wearer steps in the shoe.
Inside Label
The size, jupman and the production factory are almost concealed on the authentic pair but very visible on the fakes.
Box Label
The 9.5 is much thicker on the fake box label. The color code is also wrong ( instead of black white, the fake label has white black). The style code has wider letters and numbers on the authentic pair.
Hopefully, this is enough information to help you legit check the White and Black Nike Dunk Low
