Welcome back to another edition of legit check, today we’ll quickly learn how to spot and identify the Fake Air Jordan 5 White Metallic Silver as many pairs have already entered the market. Once again, we’ll lean on Jacob Marcellus’ video to list all the key things to look for. Areas of our focus will include the sides, the tongue logo, the quarter panel, the toe, the shark teeth, the insoles and more, so grab your sneakers and let’s get started.
How To Tell If Your Air Jordan 5 White Metallic Silver is Fake?
Lateral Side

From the lateral side, the fake pair already gives itself away in a few subtle ways. First, the toe box looks slightly bulkier and less streamlined, while the authentic pair has a sleeker shape ( see red arrows). The metallic silver shark teeth also look different, with the real pair showing a brighter, more reflective finish and the fake pair appearing flatter and less sparkly. Finally, the icy outsole tint is a useful indicator: the authentic pair has a lighter blue tint with a clearer transition between the shades, whereas the fake pair looks darker and the contrast between the blue sections is less pronounced.( see red circles).
Lateral Heel ( 23 Logo)

If you zoom in on the lateral heel logo, one of the first things you’ll notice is the spacing between the ‘2’ and the ‘3’ . On the fake pair, there is a more noticeable gap between the digits, whereas on the authentic pair the numbers sit much closer together( see red arrows). The black shadowing around the ‘23’ is also fuller and on the real pair. Lastly, the ‘23’ sits slightly higher on the authentic pair when compared to the fake.”( see red line).
Tongue ( Jumpman Logo)

“Zooming into the tongue Jumpman, the authentic embroidery is denser, causing the head and upper torso to blend together (a more ‘neckless’ silhouette), while the replica shows slightly more separation. The patch border stitching is also more raised and pronounced on the real pair, whereas the fake looks flatter and cleaner.”
Back

- AIR looks “sloppier” on the real
On the real pair, the AIR embroidery has a slightly more irregular, fuzzy edge (especially on the A and R), which makes it look a bit rougher. On the fake, the AIR letters look cleaner and more “machine-perfect,” with sharper edges and less fuzz ( see red rectangle) - Overall height/scale (red vertical lines)
The fake pair is slightly taller in the rear silhouette (the collar/heel looks a touch higher). - NIKE wordmark gap to the overlay stitching (red dash)
On the fake, the NIKE wordmark sits a bit higher relative to that double overlay stitch line, creating a larger gap. On the real, the NIKE sits closer to the stitch line, so the spacing looks tighter.
Lace Bag

- Fake pair: the lace bundle is wound tighter and looks more compact (loops are stacked closer together).
- Real pair: the lace bundle is looser, with a bit more spacing and a less “compressed” coil.
Insoles ( Front and Back)

Looking at the insoles from the front, the fake pair is slightly narrower and has a more yellowed/cream tone compared to the wider, cleaner-looking real insole. The size stickers are also an easy tell: the authentic sticker includes the bilingual print ‘MEN’S SIZE / TAILLE HOMMES,’ while the fake only says ‘MEN’S SIZE,’ and the fake ‘12’ appears slightly larger, see red arrows. Finally, the NIKE AIR graphic on the fake looks lighter and more uneven, while the real pair has a darker, more consistent print that appears more durable and less prone to fading, see red circles.

- Color: the fake insole backing looks slightly more cream/yellowed, while the real looks cleaner/brighter white.
- DREAMCELL emboss legibility: the real pair’s embossing is deeper and sharper, so “DREAMCELL” and the code above it are much easier to read. On the fake, the emboss is shallow/faint, so the text looks washed out and is hard to make out.
Packaging ( Box)

- The Nike Air oval on the real box reads slightly larger/more open. The swoosh and “NIKE” look a touch more expanded, and the “A I R” spacing is a bit cleaner.
- On the fake box the logo feels slightly tighter/compact, and the print looks a little softer.

- Box color/finish: the fake box looks more “ashy” and uneven in black tone (it reads slightly greyed-out), while the real box looks like a deeper, cleaner black with a more uniform finish.
- Cardboard/build quality: the fake box also shows obvious creasing/wrinkling and stress lines in the surface and along the edges, which is typical of thinner or lower-quality board. The real box panel looks smoother and more rigid with cleaner edges.
Black Light Test

Under UV light, the authentic pair shows faint glowing tracer lines along the midsole/upper edges where adhesive and finishing materials react to black light. On the replica, those glue/edge lines are far less reactive, so the seams don’t fluoresce in the same spots.”( see red arrows)
