Welcome back to another special edition of legit check, today, we’ll be learning how to spot the fake Air Jordan 4 Toro Bravo. The shoe was introduced in 2013 and slowly became a classic and Jordan Brand being true to itself has decided to reintroduce it again after 13 years. They’re currently sitting on shelves, which is good news by the way but counterfeit pairs have also entered the market. We’ll once again lean on Jacob Marcellus’ video to figure out how to quickly identify the fake pair. Areas of our focus will include the toe, the netting, the edges, the insoles, outsoles and more. So grab your pair and let’s get started.
How To Tell If Your Air Jordan 5 White Metallic Silver is Fake?
Side Comparison

Looking at the entire upper:
- Fake Pair: The red nubuck consistently appears darker and deeper throughout the shoe. It has a richer crimson tone that makes the sneaker look slightly heavier and less vibrant.
- Authentic Pair: The red is noticeably brighter and more vivid. The color appears more saturated and energetic
Toe Comparison

The toe box provides several useful authentication points. First, the fake pair features a noticeably darker shade of red, while the authentic pair displays a brighter and more vibrant red nubuck, see yellow boxes. The yellow arrows highlight another useful detail.
- Authentic Pair: The perimeter of the toe box has a more pronounced light-colored edge where the nubuck transitions into the stitched mudguard. This creates a subtle white or reflective-looking outline around the toe box.
- Fake Pair: That same edge is much less visible and blends more into the surrounding red material.
Finally, the front netting differs as well. The authentic pair uses slightly thicker grid lines and a bolder red color, whereas the fake pair’s netting appears thinner, darker, and more compressed.
Forefoot Outsole Comparison

The forefoot outsole provides another useful authentication point. The real pair features a noticeably darker shade of grey in the traction area, whereas the fake Jordan 4 Toro uses a lighter grey rubber compound. Looking closer at the star traction pattern, the authentic pair displays stars that are slightly larger, sharper, and more deeply molded, creating a more aggressive texture underfoot. By contrast, the fake pair’s stars appear smaller, flatter, and more compressed together, see yellow rectangles.
Midsole Texture and Shape Comparison

Looking at the area highlighted by the double yellow lines:
- Fake Pair: The upper edge of the white midsole appears wider and slightly more protruding as it transitions toward the black wing support. The curve looks bulkier and less refined.
- Authentic Pair: The same section is more streamlined, with a smoother and tighter transition into the black component.
The authentic pair displays a deeply textured pebble finish with clearly defined bumps that create a rugged appearance. On the fake pair, this texture is noticeably flatter and less pronounced, resulting in a smoother and less detailed finish, see red circles.
Insoles ( Front & Back)

The insoles provide another strong authentication point. On the fake pair, the Jumpman logo is printed with noticeably lower quality ink, giving it a rough, wrinkled, and grainy appearance. The logo lacks the sharp edges and smooth finish found on the authentic pair and may be more susceptible to peeling after regular wear, see yellow circles. The size sticker also differs. While the fake pair only displays “MENS SIZE 12,” the authentic pair includes bilingual labeling with both “MENS SIZE” and the French translation “TAILLE HOMMES” above the size number, see yellow arrows.

Turning the insoles over reveals another useful authentication detail. The foam backing on the fake pair exhibits a slightly creamier, off-white appearance, whereas the authentic pair features a brighter and cleaner white foam. Additionally, you can make out a faint embossed “Dreamcell” marking near the forefoot area of the fake air Jordan 4 toro pair (highlighted by the red arrow). Although difficult to see, the lettering is present. But on the real pair, it is nowhere to be found.
Packaging

While packaging should never be used as the sole basis for authentication, the boxes in this comparison do exhibit some noticeable differences. The real box appears slightly taller and wider than the counterfeit version when viewed side by side. It also features a larger overall footprint and a lid that extends slightly farther over the edges, whereas the fake box appears more compact and compressed. Because box dimensions can vary between production runs and shoe sizes, these differences should be viewed as supporting evidence rather than definitive proof of authenticity. The construction and details of the shoes themselves remain far more reliable authentication indicators.
