Welcome to Friday’s edition of legit check, today we’ll learn how to quickly identify the fake Air Jordan 14 Ferrari in the red colorway. This shoe has been reintroduced this year after its initial introduction in 2014. Fakes have already inundated the market and you’ll do well to check my comparison below courtesy of Jacob Marcellus. Areas we’ll focus on will include the color, the back, the toe, the insoles, Jumpman logos, box and more.
How To Tell If Your Air Jordan 14 Ferrari Red Is Fake?
Side Comparisons

Toe Shape (Blue Arrows) –
the fake pair has a bulkier, rounder toe box, while the real pair has a sleeker, more aerodynamic toe shape. This difference is visible even at this angle.Panel Stitching Gap (Yellow Arrows) –
On the fake pair, the stitching along the panel sits noticeably farther from the panel’s edge, creating a wide gap.
On the real pair, the stitching is almost adjacent to the edge.Jumpman Logo Color (Green Arrows) –
The real pair’s Jumpman is a deeper, vivid red, while on the fake pair it appears faded and leaning toward an orange tint.Suede Texture & Quality (Yellow Circle) –
The suede on the real pair looks richer and more consistent, while the fake’s suede appears slightly flat and less vibrant.
Toe Comparison ( Right Pairs)

Jumpman Logo Proportion (Yellow Circles) –
On the fake air Jordan 14 Ferrari pair, the Jumpman’s arm is noticeably thicker and longer, throwing off the proportions.
On the real pair, the Jumpman is more balanced ( even though both look horrible).Throat-to-First-Lace Gap (Yellow Line) –
On the legit pair, the gap between the throat line (top of the toe panel) and the first set of lace holes is slightly wider. The fake has this section a bit compressed, which changes the shoe’s proportions subtly.Leather/Suede Thickness at the Side Panel Edge (Yellow Squares) –
The fake pair’s material here looks thicker and less refined, giving it a chunkier appearance.
On the real pair, the material is sleeker, with a smoother edge cut, which contributes to the more premium finish.
Heel/ Back

From the back, the authentic pair has a broader stance, see green lines. Up top, the heel patch on the real pair is noticeably plusher and more rounded, while the fake’s patch looks flat and thin.

The heel liner is also slightly thicker on the real pair, see red arrows.

On the heel spine, the spacing between the “2” and “3” is much wider on the fake, whereas the authentic pair’s digits are almost touching ( see red circles). Above them, the Jumpman is rendered with a bolder stroke on the real pair, while the fake appears thin, see green boxes. And the yellow arrows show you how the line hits the heel plate on the fakes but does not on the real pair.
Insoles

A quick look at the insoles reveals an easy tell: the fake uses a deeper, royal blue insert, while the authentic pair features a lighter sky-blue/cyan pad, see red arrows.

The sidewall “Reverie” stamping is razor-sharp on the authentic—clean edges, consistent depth, and a well-defined four-petal logo—while the replica’s embossing is shallow and slightly blurry, with uneven spacing and a wavy baseline.
Box

Size/Proportions: The authentic box is both taller and wider, with straighter walls and a squarer profile. The fake box is shorter and narrower, which makes the lid look cramped and the corners buckle more easily.
Grey tone & finish: The real box uses a deeper, neutral grey with a satin/matte finish—the color looks even and flat across the lid and base. The fake box is a lighter, silvery grey with a bluish cast and a glossier, more reflective finish.
Black Light Test

The #23 glows under the black light on the fake pair but does not glow under the same circumstances on the real pair.

The stitching around the Jumpman logo glows on the authentic pair, see yellow arrow. The Area enclosing the Jumpman logo turns yellow under the black light on the fake Jordan 14 Ferrari Red but does not change on the real pair, see red box.
