Nike has done it again. The company has taken an iconic silhouette, the Dunk Low, and given it a new coat of paint. This time, sneakerheads are being treated to the Nike Dunk Low Quilted Wheat. Is this another case of Nike exploiting its own legacy, or is the shoe a worthy addition to the Nike lineup? Let’s take a closer look.
The Dunk Low Quilted Wheat may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that it’s a well-made shoe. The tumbled leather upper is soft and comfortable, while the quilted leather adds a touch of luxury. The mesh tongue and lining keep the shoe breathable, while the gum rubber outsole provides traction and durability. And while the white midsole may be a bit too contrasty for some, it does provide a nice pop of color. Overall, the sneaker is a solid entry into the Nike lineup. The image above gives you an idea of the number of pairs per size, as you can see, the stock numbers are relatively high and that shouldn’t come as a surprise. We’ll go with the following distribution based on past history.
Size 5 (553), size 5.5 (729), size 6 (761), size 6 (761), size 6.5 (3325), size 7 (6143). size 7.5 (4607), size 8 (3581), size 8.5 (2557), size 9 (4607), size 9.5 (3427), size 10 (3069), size 10.5 (1467), size 11 (1403), size 11.5 (119), size 12 (697).
Total projected: 37045 pairs, I’ll give provide more accurate numbers within the next 48 hours. Now let’s see how the shoe is performing on third party marketplaces.
Dunk Low Quilted Wheat: Resale Value
The chart above gives us a breakdown of the average sale price of the shoe by size, as well as the returns associated with every size sold. As you can see, 93% of the sales resulted in a very significant loss ( sizes 5.5-12) , while only one pair, size 5 led to an abysmal earning of $10. The shoe hasn’t even officially released yet and the current picture is pretty dim, what can we conclude about it?
I would not recommend reselling the Dunk Low Quilted Wheat, at least not right at the moment. Buyers should be jubilating right now as they’ll be able to acquire several pairs under retail, that’s also another interesting discovery. How can a shoe that hasn’t even officially dropped yet be sold on third party marketplaces below its retail price. There are several possibilities that I won’t discuss here, that would be opening a can of worms.
