The original AM 97 made a strong return this year but just like Uptempo, Nike keeps exploring different possibilities with the silhouette. Several colorways have dropped ever since but the Nike Air Max 97 Ultra 17 is an upgraded version of the original model. According to Dylan Raasch, Nike Senior Sportswear Design Director,
The innovation in the Air Max 97 Ultra comes from the point of view of refined comfort.We updated the airbag, which is tuned softer, and the foam around it is streamlined to be closer to the ground. The lining is totally seamless with a single shell for the upper construction. The Air Max 97 Ultra retains the spirit of the OG through details you can really feel
I’ve been saying this all year long, many brands are basically bringing back their OG styles and upgrading them with newer technologies to improve performance. With the AM 97 ultra, what we have is a single-layer upper made up of knit and mesh materials intended to lighten up the shoes. Also introduced on the shoes is the new Air-Sole PSI levels to deliver even better cushioning. The shoes are still going to cost $160 and are available from the stockists below.
