The Fake Air Jordan 1 Element Gore Tex has made its way onto the scene. This is a shoe that many are after because its functionality. It is equipped with a technology that renders it weatherproof. For those reasons, it shouldn’t come to no surprise to anyone that counterfeits are already circulating. I went on youtube in search of images of legitimate pairs, but my quest returned dry. So most of the folks with access with this shoe this early via youtube are most likely carrying fakes. These new breeds of fake sneakers are now labeled as option B’s. So in this post, I’ll do my best to show you tips you can use to avoid being taken advantage of. I always start with the preliminaries.
. Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
.Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Now, are there any other flaws we can spot on the shoe at the moment? Fortunately, I was able to find official pictures of the shoes courtesy of Nike and other pictures. ( we are still standing on shaky grounds though).
Look how far the bleeding goes on the authentic pair. On the fakes, it appears to only cover the first row of threads at the heel. Zero in yellow arrow. I added another picture of a supposedly authentic pair to verify this detail
You can clearly see that the bleeding in black covers the same areas on this pair as well, which may confirm my earlier assertion.
Check out the clarity of the holes on the toe area. On the fake pair, the holes are subtle near the front and not very clear, they appear as dots. And the spacing between the holes and edge of the toe box is wider on the fakes.
The “Gore Text” text is placed a bit to high on the fake pair. And the substance used on the wings logo on the fake pair appears rugged and uneven. You can clearly see the differences between both logos.
The TM logo is barely legible on the fake pair.
The swoosh logo has a darker shade on the authentic pair ( see red arrows)
No comments are really needed here, the grey color isn’t the same ( that’s evident). The Gore Tex wording is placed a little too high on the fakes.
The gap on the stitching is wider on the fake pair. The “Air” text is adjacent to the edge of the tab on the fakes. The Tab is a bit shorter on the fakes and the letterings are a bit bolder on the fakes.
There is not much to see here beside the placement of the “Gore Tex” wording being higher on the fakes.
The ink used on the “Gore Text” wording is of poor quality, and will peel off as soon as the wearer steps foot in the shoe. This is typical of most fakes. You can clearly see the differences between both pairs.
Both pairs above are size 11’s but as you can see, the fake pair has a smaller box.
The real pair has a” Gore Text” sticker that is missing on the fakes. Once again check out the size differences between both boxes.
The real pair comes with a double paper, with the both shoes wrapped individually, which isn’t the case with the single paper on the fakes.
One of the most important details to look at is the box label. You can clearly see that the fake box has the wrong name and wrong color code ( see red square). Furthermore, the fake box is built with poor quality carboards ( you can see vertical lines through it), see red square. The font of the letters is bolder on the fake pair and you look close enough, you’ll notice that the fake pair is missing the RFID identifier, I did a video on that, see link below
Although this may not be necessarily the best way to spot a fake pair, I’ll encourage yo to stay away from anyone who offers you a pair with matching production dates.
