In this edition of Legit Check, we’re going to learn how to fish out the Fake New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Mirage Grey. Thanks to Ayem Snkrs’ YouTube video we were able to put together some side-by-side pictures so you can better identify what is real and what isn’t!
Top View
As you can see from the picture above, the authentic pair is slightly longer than the fake one, see yellow line. The mesh material on the toe area has a grey shade on the legit pair but is grey and blue on the fakes, see yellow circle. The heel liner is off white on the real pair but snow white on the fakes, see red arrow. The tongue circle highlighted by the green arrow shows you how the color isn’t the same between both pairs. The outsole extend a bit further on the fakes, see yellow arrow.
Toe Area: Real Vs Fake New Balance 2002R Protection Pack
You can clearly see how the gap between the edge of the outsole and the edge of the toe overlay is much wider on the real pair, see red line. Also zero in on the outsole itself, there are more grey spots on the fakes, see red squares.
You can see the color difference on the mesh materials of the toe box between both pairs, see yellow circle. The suede overlay on the toe extend a it further on the fakes, see red arrow. The gap between the throat line and the extension of the tongue is longer on the real pair, see yellow line. And the “N” logo is much larger on the real pair, see yellow rectangle.
Tongue
The tongue and its extension are shorter on the fake pair, see yellow line. The “N” logo on the throat line is slightly larger on the real pair and is off white while the fake pair has a snow shite “N” logo. The throat line is also much wider on the real pair.
Midsole
The gap between the midsole and the panel overlay is much wider on the authentic pair, see yellow dashes. The N logo is slightly bigger on the fakes, see yellow arrow. The midsole pattern is very vivid on the legit pair but subtle on the fakes, see red arrow. And the at the heel the shapes and the color of the midsole are more dull on the fakes, see red square.
The stitching is light grey on the legit pair but black on the fakes, see yellow arrow. The “2002 R” reference has a much larger font on the authentic pair. The “Nergy” text is of a paler shade on the fakes. The gap between the quarter panel overlay and the heel liner is much wider on the legit pair, see yellow dash. And the bubbles on the midsole are clear on the fakes but cloudy on the real pair, see red arrows.
Side
The toe overlay features a soft leather material on the real pair but furry suede on the fakes, see yellow arrow. The stitches are clearly grey on the real pair but black on the fakes. And the forefoot mesh underlays don’t have the same color between both pairs.
Back
The perforations are much bigger on the fake New BALANCE 2002R PROTECTION PACK pair, see yellow rectangle. The heel logo area has an orange color shade on the fake pair but a light gold shade on the legitimate pair.
Outsole
The differences are very obvious, no comments needed.
Insoles:
The bottom of the insole is black with larger holes on the fakes but white with smaller holes on the authentic pair.
The NB logo is of a lighter shade of green on the real pair.
Inserts
Interestingly the Fake New Balance 2002r protection pack comes with inserts that are covered with the brand’s logo while the real pair doesn’t have that. The inserts are also much smaller on the fakes.
Box
The real pair’s box is slightly wider than the fake pair’s box; in addition the fake box have a lot of spots on it, and its NB logo is a bit faded.
The gap between the new balance text and the bottom of the box is much wider on the fake box.
The box label of the authentic pair is much wider than the fake’s label and the references aren’t the same between both even though they are the same size.
The NB logo on the tissue paper is more faded on the real pair.
