Welcome to another edition of the Legit Check! Today we’ll be discussing how to spot the Fake Air Jordan 3 Wizards. I came across a well done side by side comparison video by Jacob Marcellus via Youtube and here are my findings. We’ll cover a lot of the details, including the sides, the back, the jumpman, tongue, insole, outsole, and more. So grab your shoes and let’s get started!
But first, let’s go through our preliminary steps.
Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
.Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Toe: Fake Jordan 3 Wizards
As you can see on the image above, the toe box of the fake pair is slightly bumpier than the real pair’s toe. I also added the red rectangle to show you how the elephant print has a darker print on the fake pair. Also the forefoot portion of the outsole is of a different ( lighter) shade of grey on the authentic pair. Finally, the blue arrows show you how the lace holes are more pushed in on the fake pair.
The cement/ elephant print has narrower cracks on the authentic pair and is also of a lighter shade. And the outsole is lighter on the real pair as well.
Back
This is a recurring thing on most fake Jordan 3’s, the heel overlay has a higher cut on the counterfeit pair, see red line. The bumps on the heel tab are more subtle and of a lighter shade of white on the authentic pair, see red square.
Back: Black Light Test
The gap between the heel tab and the ankle liner is much wider on the fake pair, see red line on top. And the spacing between the double stitching is a lot smaller on the fake pair, see red rectangle. This was revealed by the black light.
Tongue
The Jumpman logo has more girth on the authentic pair and is of a lighter shade of gold, see red circle.
Outsole
The circular threads are of a darker shade of gold on the fake pair and the grey is also slightly darker on the rest of the outsole of the fake pair, see red circles.
Insole
The Dreamcell text is clear and easier to read on the authentic pair. And if you zero in on the mid section, the square is debossed on the fake pair but embossed on the legit pair.
Black Light
The fake Air Jordan 3 Wizards clearly has a lot of trace or pen marks on it, thus showing the poor crafstmanship.
More pen and trace marks highlighted.
There you have it folks, hopefully you’ll be able to spot the Fake Air Jordan 3 Wizards with these tips. I’ll update the post as soon I come across more detailed tips to look for, stay tuned and check the post regularly. You can check out our other real vs fake comparisons via the Legit Check page.
