Welcome back to another edition of Legit check, today we’ll quickly learn how to sniff out the Fake Air Jordan 1 High Palomino. I ‘m not surprised that these have been quickly replicated because they are indeed one of the best Jordan 1’s that have been dropped this year. I won’t be surprised if they gain in value in an exponential speed, I discuss it in my projection article. But today we’ll focus on ways to legit check them. Areas we’ll zero in on are the toe, back, color, stitching, insole and outsole. So grab your pair and let’s get started, but first let’s go through our preliminary steps.
But first, let’s go through our preliminary steps.
Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
.Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Side: Real Vs Fake Air Jordan 1 High Palomino
The first thing you’ll notice is the difference in the brown color on the overlays. On the fake pair, the brown is of a lighter shade, zero in on the yellow arrows and you’ll see it. The brown is darker on the legitimate pair.
Next, focus on the stitching highlighted by the yellow arrows, it is also much darker and slighter wider on the real pair. Now zero in on the wings logo, you’ll notice how all its elements i.e wings, ball and the Air Jordan Text are more puffed up( bumpy) on the legit pair, you can’t miss that. And the edges highlighted by the red rectangle are smooth on the real pair but rough on the fakes.
We’re still looking at the sides, and this time, let’s take a closer look at the alignment of the stitching near the forefoot strap, it is completely crooked and misaligned on the fake pair but continuous on the real, see yellow rectangles.
Toe Area
Once again in the image above, you’ll notice how the authentic pair’s is of a darker shade of brown in comparison to the fakes.
Back: Fake Jordan 1 Palomino
The stiches are more noticeable on the fakes than they are on the real pair, that’s because they are of a darker shade of brown on the legitimate pair, see red arrows,
upon closer inspection, the midsole is slightly more yellowed ( and appears aged) on the fake than it is on the real pair, see red rectangles.
Tongue
The gap between the “Nike” text and the edge of top of the tab is slightly bigger on the real pair, focus on red dashes.
The tongue is much wider on the Fake Air Jordan 1 High Palomino pair than it is on the real one, see yellow line.
Insole
The references highlighted in yellow are subtle on the fake pair’s insole but very visible and of a different style and font on the real pair. And the surface of the back of the insole appears more rugged on the fakes and also darker.
Outsole
Above is another detail that shouldn’t be overlooked, the highlighted area of the outsole. It is subtle on the authentic pair but more vivid on the fakes.
