In this post, we’ll go over some key features and details to look for when determining if an Air Jordan 5 UNC is authentic or not. By following these tips, you can ensure that you’re getting your hands on a genuine pair of sneakers that will last for years to come. First, let’s go through our preliminary steps
Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
.Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Toe Box: Fake Jordan 5 UNC
You can clearly see that the toe box of the fake pair lacks in the slant at its tip, zero in on the arrows, it is obvious.
If you close in on the tip of the toe , the cut is sudden on the counterfeit pair and it also appears bulky, see yellow arrows. The red arrows show you that the stitching is more concealed on the fake pair than it is on the real one. And the midsole of the replica pair is also more rugged and rough in comparison to the smoother texture on the authentic pair.
Back
The spacing between the tab and the edge of the midsole is slightly bigger on the fakes, see red line( both shoes are size 12s by the way). The tab is also much wider on the replica pair, see yellow line. The embedded text on the tab has a slightly bigger font on the fakes. And the yellow arrow points out how the zig zag stitching has an overall better craftsmanship ( quality work).
Inside Liner
The insider liner is more shiny and of a darker shade of blue on the authentic pair, zero in on the yellow squares and orange circles. Also see how the ankle liner is much thicker on the fakes.
Tongue Extension: Fake Air Jordan 5 UNC
The gap between the edge of the throat line and the laces is much wider on the authentic pair, see yellow line. Also, the double stitching extends further on its sides on the real pair, see red arrow.
Insoles
Obviously, the patterns on the sockliner isn’t the same between both pairs, it is quite obvious. And the Jumpman logo is wider on the fakes and of a lighter shade of white, see red arrow. You’ll also notice that the blue shade is darker on the authentic pair.
The back of the insole is darker on the authentic pair, and the references are more legible on the real pair but subtle on the fakes.
Outsole
The outsole has a darker tint on the fake Air Jordan 5 UNC. you’ll see it on the black light test in the picture below
You can clearly see how the fakes are darker, the herringbone threads are revealed on the authentic pair but concealed on the fakes.
Box
Both pairs are size 12s but obviously, the authentic box is wider. You’ll also see the poor quality box that was used on the fake pair’s box ( see the lines highlighted by the red circles).
The Jumpman logo has a darker shade of blue on the authentic pair, and the gap between the size label and the shoe label is wider on the authentic pair, see yellow line. And clearly, the real pair is much higher, see red line.
