February will see the release of another very anticipated shoe, the Jordan 1 High 85 in Black and White. The sneaker is going to cause a pandemonium and counterfeiters are certainly going to do their best to capitalize on it. In fact, the fake Air Jordan 1 High 85 Panda is already in circulation and in this post, I’ll quickly show you how to sniff it out.
First, let’s go through our preliminaries
Smell the shoes ( only if you’ve already made the purchase)
One of the dead giveaway is the smell/odor of the glue uses to construct the replicas. If the glue smell is really strong to the point of irritating your nostrils, then you’ve probably being dealt a counterfeit
.Proof of Purchase
Ask for a proof of purchase. Receipt must include details such as provenance, time of purchase, date and any other relevant information. If a seller is reluctant to provide that, I will strongly urge to refrain from following through with the purchase.
Real Vs Fake Air Jordan 1 High 85 Black & White Panda: Side By Side Comparison
Lateral Side: quarter Panel
As you can see, the back of the shoe is more slanted on the fake pair than it is on the real one. Also, the spacing between the edge of strap and the heel liner is wider on the fakes ( that’s because the strap is actually wider on the authentic pair). Also, the spacing between the bottom edge of the strap and panel overlay is wider on the real pair, see red lines.
You can clearly see that the gap between the stitching on the wing strap and its edge is wider on the fake pair ( see yellow and red lines). Also the stitching pointed our in the red circle is a bit crooked on the replicas. You’ll also notice how the wings logo appears faded on the fakes but very vibrant on the legitimate pair.
Toe Area: Fake Air Jordan 1 High 85 Black & White
The tip of the top is more curvy, rounded and slightly more slanted on the real pair but steep and bulky on the fakes.
Midsole Markings
The midsole markings have completely different patterns between both pairs, see red rectangles.
Panel’s Stitching

It is very subtle but the double stitches on the quarter panel are very close to one another on the fake Jordan 1 High 85 Panda, see red arrows.
Tongue
The tongue tag is wider on the fake pair, see yellow line. The gap between the bottom of the tab and the first set of stitching is wider on the real pair ( see red line). And the gap between the lace hole and the stitching is wider on the replica pair ( see red line). Both pairs are size 8.5’s so technically they ought to have the same features. You can also see that the NIKE text is almost adjacent to the tongue liner on the real pair but about 1.5 inch away from the liner on the fakes, see yellow arrow.
References On The inside
The references have a bolder font on the authentic pair, and the “8” and the “1/2” are almost touching one another on the real pair but on the fakes, there is a small gap between them. Likewise, the spacing between the digits is slightly wider on the replica, take a close look at it, you’ll notice it.
Fake Air Jordan 1 High 85 Panda Insoles
First, the fake pair is missing the label pointed out in the yellow rectangle. The size 8.5 sticker is placed behind the Nike Air logo on the real pair but above it on the fakes ( I know it can seem like a ridiculous detail but it is worth mentioning). Finally the NIKE text has much thinner letters on the replica pair.
Outsole
The differences are very obvious on the outsole. The threads bear no markings on them on the authentic pair.
There you have it folks, hopefully you’ll be able to easily sniff out the Fake Air Jordan 1 High 85 Panda with these tips. This is probably the first batch of fakes that have been produced. I’m sure in a few weeks, they will be upgraded, I’ll monitor it closely and update the spot, so stay tuned.
