Spread the love

Jordan Brand continues to rely heavily on the Jordan 1 silhouette as it is still trending. Their latest release,  the Air Jordan 1 High OG Skyline takes inspiration from an iconic piece of early Michael Jordan paraphernalia — a promotional image depicting a dunking MJ with the Chicago skyline in the background.

The shoe features a white leather base with denim overlays, featuring an eye-catching gradient of Vivid Orange fading into Ice Lilac towards the heel. additional  details include  black accents on the Swoosh, ankle collar and Wings logo, as well as Nike Air branding on the tongue tag. Comfort is also top notch here thanks to the Sail midsole and black outsole. If you’re interested in picking up a pair , refer to the details below

Air Jordan 1 High skyline Resale Value VS Time (2)

The chart above gives us a summary of the average sale price of the shoe since March 15. As you can see from the data, prices went from $206 on the 15th to $199 on the 17th, roughly decreasing by an average of $3.44 per day. Let’s see what the five number summary reveals.

Minimum: 163
Quartile Q1: 193.75
Median: 205
Quartile Q3: 220
Maximum: 289

The lowest sale recorded was $163 for a size 9 while the highest sale was $289 for a size 12.5. About 1/4 of the shoes sold for prices from $163 to $194 while half of them, that is 50% sold for prices between $194 and $220. The top 25% sales were between $220 and $289. There was only one outlier, the $289 corresponding to the size 12.5 previously mentioned. With the outlier taken out, the overall average resale value is $207 with a 9% volatility. At $207, you’re looking at a $3 loss; about 68% of the shoes will sell for prices between $189 and $225, still leaving you with either a loss or a very insignificant profit margin. The next chart will show us the current earnings or losses by size sold.

r jordan 1 high og skyline earnings losses by size sold

About 63% , that is more than half of the sales led to losses. 19% led to earnings under $10 ( sizes 6,8 and 11). The only sizes that led to some decent returns are sizes 5.5,12.5 and 13. The 12.5 in particular generated about $72 in profit, a 38% mark up ( 2.5 times above average). But it is important to mention that for sizes 5.5 and 12.5 only one pair was sold, that’s a small sample size.

I’ll conclude that if you’re a Day trader, the only size worth targeting for resale purposes ought to be either the 12.5 or a 13. Every other size will be an extremely risky business move For buyers, this is great news as most pairs are roughly 7% above the suggested MSRP. So at least you won’t pay way above retail for the shoe. I do want to mention that this might be a shoe that is worth investing in for the long term. I would definitely recommend picking up a size run and hold onto it for about 16 months, you won’t regret it. I’ll monitor the shoe as time progresses.
