Nike is at it again, folks. The sportswear giant has teamed up with China-based retailer SoulGoods to release a new colorway of the Nike Dunk High, and they’re calling it the SoulGoods Nike Dunk High 90s. Now, I know what you’re thinking – didn’t the 90s already happen? And didn’t Nike already milk that particular decade for all it was worth? Well, you’re not wrong. But that’s not going to stop the brand from trying to force this narrative down our throats.

Seriously, take a look at the shoe. It’s got olive and black tones inspired by “local rock album covers,” according to Nike. They’ve also thrown in a butter-like nubuck upper and an embroidered tiger, which are supposed to be nods to “East Coast hip-hop musicians.” The whole thing reeks of try-hardism, and it’s just another example of Nike’s insistence on shoehorning certain narratives into their classic silhouettes.

Nike Has Done This Before

This isn’t the first time that Nike has tried to force a narrative onto one of their shoes. Just last year, they released a shoe called the Kyrie 5 “Duke,” which was supposed to be a tribute to Duke University basketball player Kyrie Irving. The problem? Irving had already left Duke by the time the shoe came out. He had been drafted by the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011 and spent six seasons with them before being traded to the Boston Celtics in 2017.

So why would Nike name a shoe after Irving and release it while he wasn’t even playing for Duke anymore? Simple – because they knew that there would be demand for it. And they were right – the shoe sold out almost immediately after it was released. But that didn’t stop people from calling Nike out on their blatant attempt to cash in on Irving’s name and story.

At the end of the day, stories like these are nothing more than examples of Nike’s continued efforts to milk certain narratives for all they’re worth. So next time you see a new colorway of an old shoe with some grandiose story attached to it, just remember – Nike is probably just trying to sell you something. With that said, I have to admit tht these SouldGoods Dunk Highs do look appealing to the eye, so if you plan on picking up a pair, see details below

SoulGoods Dunk high 90s: Resale Value

Dunk Hi SouldGoods Resale Value Vs Time

The chart above gives us a breakdown of the average sale price of the shoe by size since November 12,2022. As you can see, the highest sale was recorded on 11/12/2022 at $450 for a size 11. The 11 since went down to $200. There was a drastic drop between the 12th and 18th of November.  Since the 18th, prices have gone down by an average of $13 per day and the current resale value is about $185. The data obtained was from a small sample size but it does give us an idea about the possible overall average sale price of the shoe.

The average resale value will most likely lie within the $185 to $200 interval with margins within +$4 and +$20 for mark ups within 2% and 12% ( below average). So at this point , I’ll only recommend selling sizes 11 and above or anything between 4 and 6. I’ll give you an update within the next 72 hours.
