Despite Nike’s reputation for a profit-driven ethos, one cannot overlook their commendable dedication to the children at OHSU Doernbecher Hospital. Each year, they provide these young ones with a creative platform to design their own marvels, and without fail, they deliver. Today, our focus is on a unique creation, the Hugo Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher Freestyle.
The shoe’s designer, Hugo “Juice” Covarrubias Molina, was diagnosed with Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, a condition that results in one side of his body growing larger than the other. Despite this, his creativity and courage shine through in his designs.
His distinctive style is evident in the sneaker, which bears his nickname, Juice (or “jugo” in Spanish), on the upper part. In keeping with Hugo’s penchant for flair and sparkle, the shoe comes with a custom logo hangtag, which doubles as a pendant, plated in pure 24-carat gold.
At the bottom of the shoe, you’ll find an inspiring message: “It’s okay to be different.” This phrase not only encapsulates Hugo’s life philosophy but also serves as a reminder of the beauty of individuality and the strength in embracing our unique differences.

Jordan 3 Doernbecher Hugo: Resale Value

The chart above gives us a summary of the average sale price of the shoe since November 22, 2023 on third party marketplaces. As you can see from the records, prices went from $600 on 11/22 down to $493 the very next day. They then went back up to $542 on 11/24/23 to $650, $775 and $795 for the two days that followed. There was another sharp decline down to $600 on the 28th of November and currently the average resale price is $579. These sudden changes in prices might be due to different sizes fetching different prices, but let’s see what the five number summary reveals,
Minimum: 325
Quartile Q1: 546.25
Median: 600
Quartile Q3: 668.75
Maximum: 1062
The lowest sale recorded was $325 for a size 11, on 11/24/23 while the highest sale was $1062, size 9 on 11/27/23. About 25% of the shoe sold between $325 and $546.25 ( see next chart for sizes) while half of them sold between $546.25 and $669. The top 25% sales were from $669 to $1062 and there were three outliers ( $325, $1000 and $1062) corresponding to sizes 11, 13 and 9.
Without the outliers, the overall average resale value is $599 with a 17% volatility. You can expect about 70% of the shoes to sell between $497 and $701 leading to profit margins between +$229 and +$415 for mark ups between 103% and 186% ( 7 to 12.5 times above average). Now that’s great news for day Traders.
Current Earnings By Size Sold: Doernbecher Jordan 3 Hugo

About 44% of the sale led to profit margins between $300 and $360 ( sizes 10-11.5). 22% generated earnings between $200 and $240, sizes 12 and 8. Sizes 9, 9.5 and 13 produced the highest margins with $743, $446 and $505 in returns respectively. But let’s note that for size 9 , the sample size was one. I’ll definitely recommend sizes 13 if you’re looking to score some a homerun.
But honestly, every size you pick up will lead to a generous profit, this is probably one of the best sneaker to resell in December.
