The Air Jordan 12 Low Easter will officially drop on Saturday April the 3rd and retails for $200. The shoe is dressed in a white leather upper with complementing white overlays and iridescent details on the mid section tab and the eyelets. Other details include a black heel tab with branding on it. Additional Jordan logos can be spotted on the outside of the tongue, the heel, the extension of the tongue and the insole. Also worth mentioning is the icy blue sole and the pink insole. The shoe is equipped with air units for maximum cushioning and carbon fiber shanks at the mid section of the outsole for torsional rigidity. Today we’ll try to figure out how many pairs were possibly made and the shoe current resale value. As far as Nike is concerned, based on my findings, the Easter 12’s will only be released in the USA. I also checked for other stockists that were given an inventory and these are these are the retailers I came up with.
Major Retailers: Footlocker, Footaction, Champs, Eastbay ( online only), JD Sports, Finishline, Hibbett
Minor Retailers: Shoe City, DTLR
Now that we have our list of stockists, we can set up some assumptions
Assumptions:
- Footlocker, Footaction, Champs and Eastbay will receive about 40% of the total inventory
- Hibbett, JD Sports, Finishline and the minor chains will receive 40% as well
- Nike will take the remaining 20% ( remember only Nike USA is going to carry this model)
When I was checking out the number of footlocker stores that were allocated, I counted a total of 45 stores out of the 1000 operational stores within the USA, that is about 4.5% . So instead of me going through the rigorous step of counting the number of Footaction and Champs stores allocated, I’m going to assume that only 5% of each of these entities will also be given an inventory. So our next set of assumptions will be:
- Total number of Footaction allocated: 5% x 210=11 stores
- Total number of Champs allocated: 5% x 547= 28 stores
- We’ll give about 70 pairs per FTL, 48 pairs per Champs and Footaction
- We’ll assign about 1/2 of the total inventory the stores are receiving to each of their respective online stores
- We’ll give Eastbay about 1/3 of the total FTL, Champs and FTA online stores are receiving
Now let’s run our numbers:
Numbers:
Footlocker ( in stores)= 70 x45= 3150 pairs
Footaction (in stores)= 11 x 48= 528 pairs
Champs ( in stores)= 27 x 48=1296 pairs
Online allocation= ( 3150+ 528+ 1296)/2= 2487 pairs
Eastbay= 2487/3= 829 pairs
Total from Footlocker, Champs, Footaction & Eastbay= (829+ 2487+ 1296+ 528 +3150) pairs= 8290 pairs let say 8500 pairs
Since we assumed that this number represented about 40% of the entire inventory, we can conclude that the total number of pairs possibly made is:
Total made= (8500)+ (8500)+( 8500/2)=21250 pairs let say 22,000 pairs
I’ll say that the number of the Air Jordan 12 low Easter made will fall within the 20,000 pairs< total Made< 40,000 pairs
PS: As you all know, I always have to add this disclaimer because every single projection that I make is purely based on assumptions that I have set. It is meant to give you an idea of what to expect, I don’t work any of these brands/retailers I mentioned and have no access to their numbers. I’m only using what is available to create plausible assumptions.
