Don’t Attempt To Resell The Following Nike And Jordan Retro Sneakers

I had planned on creating separate posts for each of the following sneakers in order to caution those who are considering reselling them this month. Instead of doing that, I decided to condense them into a single post and update it as time progresses.

Observations

As you can see from the records,89% of the sales led to losses, that is sizes 7.5,9.5,10,10.5,11,11.5,12 and 13. There is only one size that generated a very abysmal profit of +$6,  leading to a 5% mark up ( almost 3 times below average). So this shoe is definitely not worth reselling.

Air Jordan 1 Low OG “University Red” Resale Value

Observations

This is looking very gloomy for resellers. Every single pair sold led to a major loss with certain sizes selling for less than 40% below the suggested MSRP i.e sizes 12.5,9.5 and 11.5. Sizes 10,10.4,11,12,13,8,8.5, and 9 sold between 27% and 39% the retail price, which is still very significant. All I can say is this is a great time to be a buyer as most pairs are not even exceeding let alone selling for their MSRP. This is probably a case of the Jordan 1 Low OG University Red being available in the Nike Employee store where it is being sold for up to 50% below its retail price. Those are the pairs that make their way to third party marketplaces.

The chart above gives us a summary of the average sale price of the shoe since September 26,2023. Let’s keep in mind that the shoe retails for about $212 after tax. Now if you zero in on the chart, the only times that average sale price exceeded the MSRP were 9/26, 10/1-10/3 and even for those dates, the earnings would be negative once selling fees are considered. But more importantly, let’s look at the past 3 days, between 10/6 and 10/8, the average sale price has been declining by an average of $12 per day and is currently $175. Let’s see what the five number summary reveals.

Minimum: 120
Quartile Q1: 173.75
Median: 198
Quartile Q3: 228.25
Maximum: 297

The lowest sale recorded was $120, size 9.6 on October 6 while the highest sale was $297, on September 26  for a size 9.5. Let’s note that the size 9 is currently priced at $217 so you can forget targeting it. 25% of the shoes sold between $120 and $174, while half of them sold between $174 and $228. The top 25% sales were between $228 and $297 and they are now pretty much irrelevant.

The overall average resale value was $199, leading to a -$31 loss. Once again this isn’t a shoe you want to resell, but certainly more wonderful news for buyers.

Once again, every single size sold led to major losses, as much as 34% below the suggested retail price. We are about 5 days away from the official release date and only one pair sold about $8 above the MSRP, size 15 ; and even then it still led to a $10 loss since selling fees are to be factored in. Is the shoe available at the Nike Employee store? Most likely because the current prices heavily suggest that. The other alternative is that retailers are secretly selling their inventory on third party marketplaces, especially StockX since the identity of the sellers are concealed, they can get away with it.

The bottom line is, the buyer is the one with the advantage again. So if you’re looking to purchase this now below the MSRP, check StockX.
