The Jordan 1 is a shoe with a long and storied history. First released in 1985, it was designed by Peter Moore and instantly became a hit with both basketball players and sneakerheads alike. Today, the silhouette continues to be a staple in Nike’s Air Jordan line, with new colorways and designs released regularly. Earlier this month, the sneaker world was introduced to the Air Jordan 1 High OG Heirloom, another instant classic that pays homage to the shoe’s rich history.
The Heirloom is certainly a stunning shoe, with a black canvas base and premium tan leather overlays. It also sports a white midsole and tan rubber outsole that finish off its design. While it may look like a simple colorway at first glance, The Jordan 1 Heirloom is actually quite complex. The Vachetta Tan leather is meant to age over time, developing a unique patina that is personal to each wearer. I do wish that Nike would’ve used leather instead of canvas on the toe, heel liner and mid section. The shoe still looks great either way, if you’re interested in picking up a pair, refer to the details below

Observations
The chart above gives us a summary of the average sale price of the shoe since September the 4th, 2022. As you can see, the shoe was worth about $300 on the 9/4/22, then rapidly went down to $246 within a 4 day period. From then on , it continued to decreased till the 11th of September where it reached another peak , at $257. It declined again for the next three days down to $205. The trend has been positive in the last three days, with the shoe gaining roughly $8 per day. It is now worth about $223. But the changes can be due to certain sizes selling higher than others, let’s find our five number summary for further insights.
Minimum: 167
Quartile Q1: 193.5
Median: 205
Quartile Q3: 227
Maximum: 505
The lowest the shoe sold for was $167 ( below retail) for a size 10, while the highest recorded sale was $505 for a size 3.5 ( that probably explains the sudden peak we saw on September 11). 25% of the shoes sold for prices from $167 to $194 ( a size 8.5, 2 size 9, 2 size 9.5, 4 size 10, a 10.5 and a 11.5). 50% sold for prices between $194 and $227 ( the next chart will show you sizes that fall in this interval). The top 25% sales were between $227 and $505 ( 2 size 3.5, 2 size 12, 2 size 13, a size 10,a size 11.5 , 2 size 11).
We also need to mention the outliers ( irregular value): {280, 300, 305, 308, 336, 505} , they correspond to sizes 13,9.5,3.5, 10,12 and 3.5. With the outliers removed, the average resale value is $207, leading to a +$6 earning, that is very low. Let’s check out the current earnings per size sold.
Observations
As you can see from the chart above, 8% of the sales resulted in a loss ( size 9). 58% led to earnings under $20 ( sizes 8,8.5, 9.5-10.5, 11.5, and 14). 17% led to profit margins between $20 and $35 ( sizes 11 and 13), while sizes 12 and 3.5 led to the highest margins at $59 and $186 respectively. What can we conclude about this shoe?
Conclusion
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend reselling it unless you’re able to get your hands on sizes 3.5 and 12 based on the data. But even with those sizes I’ll be extremely careful because only two sales were recorded for the 3.5 ( that’s a small sample size). So if you were planning on grabbing any sizes beside these 3.5 and 12, I’ll strongly encourage you to change your mind. The current earnings are most likely going to drop by up to 5%, so buyers should relatively be able to get a pair for right around $200. I do think that within a year and some change, the Jordan 1 Heirloom will peak at $300 ( it might be a worth long term investment option). I’ll keep monitoring the data.
