I’m sure some of you want to know if this boot is worth purchasing for resale purposes, given its steep $400 retail tag. Let’s see how it is faring on third party marketplaces. First let us look at the value in terms of time.
Resale Value VS Time
The chart above gives you the average sale value on third party marketplaces between November the 3rd and November the 13th. As you can see, the highest return occurred on the 3rd of November, it coincided with a size 8. The buyer probably purchased the shoe impulsively, assuming that it would be extremely hard to come about. Because if you look at the trend, the value has been decreasing steadily and has stabilized in the high $500’s. The best model that fits the data is logarithmic. I found the following equation to go with it.
Yeezy Knit Runner Resale= $858-$198ln (t), t is the time elapsed since November 3.
Based on the equation, the value of the shoe by November 15h will be: $366, about $34 below its retail value. I’m sure there is a model breakdown at this point. But the information is still valuable. While I believe the shoe will remain in the low $500’s, I don’t think it’s worth purchasing for resale purposes. Let’s assume that the value remains in the low $500’s, let say $520 to $550. Your profit margin will sit within the $49 to $76 range. On a $400 investment, the return is pretty abysmal, and who knows if you’ll be able to even sell it. So I’ll say stay away from the shoe. Let’s also look at the sizes with the best margins, maybe that will be helpful.
Resale VS Size
The first graphic summarized the average daily selling values, while the one above shows the values by size. While the predicted margins appear to be favorable, I will exercise caution. Its current resale value, especially in the size 8, is in the low $500s. As far as I’m concerned, this is a high-risk boot that might go either way, so proceed with caution.is one.
