In my latest expedition at the mall, I came across the Vans Knu Skool in Black and Grey. The shoe is a remastered version of the more streamlined Vans 36 or the Vans Old Skool . The Knu Skool was pretty much adapted to the Golden era aka the ’90s. When the ’90s came, everything changed, so they wanted to make things with a little more flair—like a fat tongue, fat laces, and things of the sort. This Vans right here scream the ’90s. I remember when I was in high school; one of my friends was the only one who had the Knu Skool and we all were envious of him.
A Closer Look At The Vans Knu Skool
Now, this shoe is incredibly good-looking. I love it because it brings back those ’90s memories. From the top to the back, the shoe is made mostly of suede material. The rich suede starts at the top and continues to the back. On the side, you have a fat 3D-molded side stripe with perforations for ventilation. There’s more suede across the back heel tab for easy access and exit. You also get a pretty thick ankle liner. Then, on the midsection, you see the Vans logo.
The one thing that makes this shoe truly stand out is its fat tongue, which is typical of the ’90s bulky style. The liner is pretty thick, and the side stripe is 3D-molded. Then, you have your typical waffle outsole, which is characteristic of most Vans shoes. And finally, the ankle liner has a thick layer of foam built inside it, adding to the cushioned feel, see video above for additional details.
