The Uptempo was one of the most popular sneakers of the 90s.With its chunky design and bold ‘AIR’ branding, the sneaker was a true representation of the era. In recent years, the shoe has seen something of a resurgence, with Nike releasing a number of uninspired colorways. However, it appeared that the Uptempo was on the verge of dying out. That is until Nike decided to rescue the sneaker by releasing iterations with more gravitas. One of the strategies the brand used was creating more 90’s related themes. The latest is the Nike Air More Uptempo Rough Green, which combines black, green, and brown in a militaristic color scheme.
The sneaker is made of leather and nubuck, with mesh tongues and ‘AIR’ branding on the toe and heel. The ‘NIKE AIR’ text on the insole has been modified to include a graphic print. The Uptempo Rough Green is certainly a nod to the shoe’s 90s roots, and is sure to be a hit with sneakerheads of all ages.
