The Nike Dunk SB Low Staple Panda Pigeon is officially releasing on January the 15th. I was planning on writing a projection post on it but didn’t have access to enough data to come up with any assumptions. I might update this post in a couple of days once I gather enough intel. According to Nike,
In collaboration with Jeff Staple, the Panda Pigeon colorway was a previously rejected sample. This is the third official Pigeon release, and the fourth time the Pigeon has been featured on an SB Dunk. The white and black silhouette features a green bamboo graphic on the sockliner, hits of reflectivity and graphics on the outsole paying tribute to the newspaper headlines after the infamous first SB Pigeon launch. The ‘SAMPLE’ stamp on the collar typically found on early versions has been altered to read ‘STAPLE’
The shoe is available now on third party marketplaces and I’ll quickly run some numbers to see what its current market value is and make some inferences on changes that may occur.
The image above summarizes the date I collected via eBay. There are about 10 sales recorded that will lead to an average market value of $331. Based on the information, sizes 10 and up are going to sell at a higher value and it seems as if the value of the shoe is increasing as time progresses. The data collected has a little bit of inconsistencies so I can’t quite establish a relationship as of yet. But if I disregard the sizes , it will lead me to the regression equation below:
Price= -$5 x ( Number of Days) + $395 . You can use this to predict to value of the shoes for the next couple of days but there will be a model breakdown at some point.
StockX’s average is $328 but a quick look at the bottom left corner of the image above shows us that the price has decreased to the upper $260’s in the last hour. What is more impressive is that StockX has definitely disrupted eBay ( 782 sales recorded against 10 on eBay) and I wrote a post about it last year, see link below
In conclusion I’d say that the Nike Dunk SB Low Staple Panda Pigeon is definitely a good investment for those looking for mild home runs. I’m sure the shoe will be hard to come about so all I can say is good luck catching air.
