The Air Jordan 8 Retro Bred is the newest colorway of this particular model; the shoe if officially releasing on September 16. The shoes were made to mimic the classic Jordan 4 Bred color scheme but at this point, Jordan Brand is just going through the motions.
With an all black upper and hints of grey and red on the midsole, quarter panel and tongue, the shoes feature a premium nubuck/suede leather upper. The customary cross straps will cover the bridge area and Jordan logos can be spotted on the straps, the adjustable heel buckle. Also featured on the tongue is the jumpman logo in red.
The Jordan 8 in general sport an inner sleeve intended to cushion the foot and keep it slip-free. They are also equipped with a PU midsole ( the thickest type of midsole available in the market) with encapsulated air units in the heel and forefoot ( for maximum cushioning). The 8’s were originally introduced in 1993 and were primarily engineered for performance; but I think in the early 90’s , lightweight wasn’t something most brands were focusing on. MJ needed stability, cushion, comfort, good traction, ankle support and all those attributes were definitely built in the AJ8. If you are over 190lbs ( and enjoy operating in the low post or elbow) then I will definitely recommend them for basketball.
