The Air Jordan 1 High Panda is officially releasing on Friday May the 10th and as I was gathering data to write a projection on the number of pairs made, I realized how limited the shoe is. This morning’s post is my attempt to come up with the possible number of units produced; and as usual to run our numbers, we’ll first have to take a quick count of the number of stockists allocated an inventory.
Manufacturer and main stockist: Nike
Major retailers: Footlocker, Footaction, Finihsline &Hibbett
Minor retailers: Ruvilla/DTLR, KicksUSA, Citygear, Eblens, Nicekicks
Now we need to come up with our assumptions and then run our numbers:
We’ll assume that major retailers are going to get about 1/3 of the total inventory produced and we’ll add the following conjectures as well:
-Footlocker and Footaction will get about half of the inventory major retailers are getting , hence FTL & FTA’s allocation is about 1/6 of the total inventory produced.
-We’ll assume that each physical store is receiving about 100 pairs
-Let’s not forget to give their online stores an additional 1/3 ( basically what I’m saying is that the online stores will receive about 1/3 of the total inventory physical stores are getting)
COMPUTING THE NUMBERS
Footlocker- physical stores numbers: 100 x 6=600
FTL online= 600/3=200
Footaction- physical stores numbers:100 x 3=300
Footaction online: 300/3= 100
Total for physical locations = 600 + 300 = 900
online stores= 200+ 100=300
and Footlocker’s total ( FTL+ FTA + online) included= 900 + 300= 1200
and the Grand Total for North America= 1200 x 6=7200 pairs
PS: I’m really standing on shaky grounds here; Nike might’ve produced a lot more than I’ve projected but I don’t want to violate my own principles so I’ll stubbornly stick with my numbers above.
