Today we’re going to be talking about the possible number of pairs made and the shoe’s current resale value. This is a sneaker that is going to highly coveted by many so I’m sure Nike has produced a substantial amount of pairs. First let’s get a count of the major retailers and minor chains getting an inventory of the Raging Bull 5 in addition to Nike.
Major retailers: Footlocker, Champs, Footaction, Eastbay ( online), Finishline, JD Sports, Hibbett, Dicks
Minor retailers: Shoe City, Snipes, DTLR, Jimmy Jazz, Shoe Palace, Shiekh

Now we have the hardest part of our projection to deal with, the assumptions. We are going to rely heavily on footlocker and its derivatives. We already know that every single physical store from FTL, Champs and FTA will be carrying the shoe, that makes the job a little bit easier. Figuring out the amount of pairs per store will be the pain in the neck.
Assumptions:
- FTL, FTA, Champs and Eastbay will receive about 30% of the total inventory
- Each FTL, FTA, Champs physical store will be allocated
- Regular FTL stores will be assigned 24 pairs while HOH ( House Of Hoops) will receive 70 each
- Champs and FTA will receive about 18 pairs per store
- FTL, FTA, Champs online will be given 1/3 of the inventory the physical stores are receiving
- Eastbay will receive a 1/3 of the total from FTA, FTL and Champs online combined
Now let’s run our numbers.
Numbers:
Regular FTL stores: 830 x 24 pairs = 19,920 pairs
HOH stores= 170 x 70= 11,900 pairs
FTA stores= 210 x 18= 3780 pairs
Champs stores= 547 x 18=9846 pairs
(FTL+ FTA + Champs )online = ( 19920+ 11,900+ 3780 + 9846)/3= 15,149 pairs
Eastbay= 15149/3= 5050 pairs
Total for all for entities ( in store and online)= (19920+ 11,900+ 3780+ 9846+ 15149 + 5050)= 65645 pairs and let’s stretch it to 70, 000 pairs because of possible errors in my assumptions.
Since we established at the outset that this number represented about 30% of the entire production for the USA, we can conclude that the total number of pairs for America will be:
Grand total= (70,000)+ (70,000)+ (70,000)+ (70,000)/3= 234,000 pairs
With that said, we can also project the global production and say that 234,000 pairs < total number of Air Jordan 5 Raging Bull< 440,000 pairs
PS: As you all know, I always have to add this disclaimer because every single projection that I make is purely based on assumptions that I have set. It is meant to give you an idea of what to expect, I don’t work any of these brands/retailers I mentioned and have no access to their numbers. I’m only using what is available to create plausible assumptions.
Now let’s talk about the resale value
Jordan 5 Raging Bull Resale Value
Here is a breakdown of the current resale value of the Raging Bull 5 by size. You can clearly see that larger sizes are producing the highest returns and margins. I will consider the size 16 to be an outlier. Sizes 15 and 16 will be very hard to come by since they are uncommon sizes hence the elevated price. Based on the numbers above, we can conclude that this shoe is definitely on many people’s radars and is going to be relatively difficult to acquire. The resale value will probably fall within the ( $300-$400) interval based on the size acquired. I don’t think the resale value will exceed $350 on common sizes ( 7-12) for the next 6 months.
