The Adidas Crazy 97 EQT All-Star Honors Kobe, Release Date, Review & Resale Value

Spread the love

Adidas is no stranger to rehashing old sneaker models and designs. In recent years, the company has dug deep into its archives, pulling out iconic sneakers from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s and giving them a modern makeover. Now, with the 25th anniversary of the 1997 All-Star Weekend approaching, Adidas is bringing back one of the late Kobe Bryant’s first signature shoes: the Adidas Crazy 97 EQT All-Star.

First released in 1997 as the EQT Elevation, the Crazy 97 EQT was the first signature shoe for then-rookie Kobe Bryant. For the 25th anniversary edition of the shoe, Adidas has given it a silver, black, and white colorway with blue and orange accents – a nod to the colors of the 1997 All-Star Weekend. While this shoe may not have the same nostalgia factor as some of Adidas’ other recent retro releases, it’s sure to be a hit with sneakerheads and Kobe fans alike. If you’re interested in grabbing a pair, refer to the details below.

Adidas Crazy 97 EQT All-Star: Performance Review

Benefits ( Pros)

The Crazy 97 EQT is a great basketball shoe for those who want superior stability and durability. The outsole is made of tough rubber, making it resistant to wear and tear. The shoe also has great traction, allowing for quick direction changes on the court. Additionally, it is lightweight, making it perfect for outdoor play. Plus, the shoe molds to the foot for a comfortable fit. The low-to-the-ground design makes it easy to stay agile during fast-paced games. All in all, the adidas Crazy 97 EQT is a great choice for serious/ casual basketball players.

Disadvantages ( Cons)

While the Adidas Crazy 97 EQT may be stylish, it falls short in a few key areas. First, the lack of ventilation means that your feet will get hot and sweaty during even moderate activity. Second, the heel is known to slip, which can be annoying at best and dangerous at worst. Finally, the shoes lack impact protection, so if you’re planning on doing any high-impact activities, you’ll want to look elsewhere i.e. Luka Doncic’s Zoom Separate.

Materials

The adidas Crazy 97 is constructed with several different materials in order to provide both comfort and durability. The upper of the shoe is made with textile, which is gentle on the skin and helps to wick away sweat. The lining is also made with textile, which provides a soft barrier between the foot and the rest of the shoe. The outsole is made with rubber, which is both durable and flexible. In addition, 25% of the components used to make the upper are made with recycled content. As a result, the  Crazy 97 is not only environmentally friendly but also built to last.

Lockdown

The adidas Crazy 97 may look like a typical basketball shoe, but it’s actually designed for serious lockdown. The cage-like midsole extends to the upper, and when the laces are tightened, it clamps the foot down firmly. This ensures a solid lockdown that keeps your foot stable during quick movements. And because the midsole is made of lightweight materials, it won’t weigh you down or slow you down on the court.

Ratings

adidas crazy 97 eqt all star Rating vs. Experts

Based on the experts above ( although I wouldn’t quite consider sneakernews an expert), the shoe has an overall rating of 83%, which is a B-, that is slightly above average.

Adidas Crazy 97 EQT All-Star: Resale Value

Adidas crazy 97 Sellers' Asking Prices Per Size

We’ll start with what the sellers are asking for the shoe. The average asking price based on the data above is about $234. But so far only a single pair was sold for $170, and that was a size 9. So to project the resale value, we’ll also find the buyers’ offers and take the average between the sellers’ asking prices and buyers’ offers.

Adidas Crazy 97 All Star Buyers' Offers By Size

There were only 5 offers made on the shoe, for two size 10’s,  two size 10.5 and a size 11. This already shows us that buyers aren’t really interested in the Crazy 97 at all. The average offer based on the records is $101, which is about 22% lower than the suggested retail price.

Resale Value=($234 +$101)/2= $167.5 let say $168, which is very close to the $170 sale recorded.

At this price, the earning projected is $15, for a 11% mark up ( below average). Based on this data, I wouldn’t recommend reselling the Crazy 97 at all, but again this is good news for collectors and sneakerheads who really want to honor Kobe’s legacy.
