R. Westbrook’s Air Jordan Why Not Zero.1 Priority Is Performance

Sharing is caring!

I was reading the narrative of Westbrook’s Air Jordan Why Not Zero.1 on Nike and one of the things he said caught my attention,

If I face a challenge, I run at it — not away from it

I don’t know Westbrook personally but if there is one thing I can say about this guy, it’ll be- he only knows how to go one way on the court, 100%. You can sense his passion every time he goes coast to coast, every time he scores a bucket, every time he destroys the rim with one of hsi Dominique wilkins’s like thunderous dunk. When I saw the pictures of his new signature shoes, all I could think of was the Jordan 22 and the Jordan Melo M1.5. Correct me if i’m wrong but it seems as if the Why not Zero.1 contains elements of those two sneakers.

As indicated in the title and Nike’s own site, the Air Jordan Why Not Zero.1 was engineered with performance as priority. I’m surprised R. Westbrook hasn’t sustained any major injuries as a result of how he plays. As much as I love his energy on the court, he can be a little reckless and out of control and the way he contorts his body is beyond amazing. I believe Nike built the shoes with those thoughts in mind. Here is what Nike said about the technical features of the shoes,

The Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 is highlighted by its smooth vamp, which, fitting for Westbrook, offers dual purpose. First and foremost, it serves the MVP’s key footwear need: forefoot containment. Westbrook plays high on his toes, always ready to push to the hoop or convert a rebound or steal into a fast break. For this, he needs stability over the sole unit, such that no added movement minimizes response when shifting direction or getting maximum bounce to the rack. Combining his style, specific performance needs and Jordan Brand soul, the end result is a futuristic silhouette that features a fused mesh upper, full-length Zoom Air unit and a compression-molded pylon foam piece engineered for flight.

The Air Jordan Why Not Zero.1 will only cost about $125 and I have to give Nike a lot of propos for that. this is a great price point and I’m confident the shoes will perform well sales wise. They will officially release on January the 15th, stay tuned for further updates.
