Last week, my scouting led me to the Baroque Brown Nike Air More Uptempo. As you know, I have mixed feelings about the uptempos in general. In my opinion, Nike should retire this model temporarily. The silhouette has been somewhat tarnished by an overabundance of lackluster colorways.
I do like the Baroque Brown but I know that it is going to sit on retailers’ shelves, collecting dust until its price drops to around $90, similar to other colorways released in recent months. In the 1990s, owning an Uptempo was a statement; it meant you had a shoe with substance. But now, with so many colorways flooding the market, its appeal has significantly diminished.
This particular model features a suede material with giant, sesame-colored ‘AIR’ letters sandwiched in between. It boasts a nearly full-length midsole for cushioning, along with numerous perforations for foot ventilation. There’s the Nike swoosh logo on the toe and the brand name at the back, plus a pull tab for easy wear and removal. For more details see video below
Closer Look At The Baroque Brown Nike air More Uptempo
The Uptempo is a classic shoe that became synonymous with Scottie Pippen, embodying his versatile playing style as a small forward who could do it all – drive, dunk, handle the ball. This shoe carries a rich history, but Nike needs to give it a break. The oversaturation of colorways, although great for buyers, has diluted the shoe’s allure. So, it’s time for Nike to put it back in the vault.
