With each new release, it seems like Nike finds a way to milk the Jordan Brand for all its worth. My latest scouting trip to the mall led me to discover the Air Jordan Legacy 312 Chicago Flag. This new colorway is a clear nod to the classic black cement 3, and it’s just one example of how Nike continues to find ways to capitalized on the Jordan legacy.

The shoe references three main sneakers: the Jordan 1, the Alpha Force, and of course, the Jordan 3. The tongue, forefoot strap, and toe are all direct nods to the Jordan 1. The forefoot strap is a clear reference to the Alpha Force. And finally, the black cement colorway and elephant print on both the forefoot and heel overlays are a direct homage to the cement 3.

The legacy 312 isn’t the only instance of Nike rehashing an old idea – they’ve been doing it for years. For example, the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Pure Money” was released in 2017. This shoe is basically a all-white version of the classic Air Jordan 4, which first came out in 1989. And who could forget about the Air Jordan Fusions and Spizikes?

It’s obvious that Nike knows that there are certain sneakers that resonate with fans, and they’re not afraid to capitalize on that nostalgia. Of course, some might say that they’re milking it a bit too much. But at the end of the day, if people are still clamoring for these shoes decades later, then Nike is just giving the people what they want! Here’s a video of the Black Cement Legacy 312.
