The NBA season has just kicked off and we already witnessed two blow outs on opening night- the most notable being the Warriors’ loss at home to the Kawhi’s San Antonio spurs by 29 points. Many were already screaming 82-0 before the season started; I guess that is out of the question now. This is definitely a new era of basketball; I remember looking forward to watching guys like Kobe, Duncan, Garnett, but all three have retired in the post season. The guys I’m going to be watching closely this season are Damian Lillard ( who by the way scored 39 points in the season opener), Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and Kawhi Leonard.
The MVP race is going to be a tough one this season- there are a lot of hungry players who will be putting up unimaginable numbers . Coach Nick from BBAllBreakdown has already started pushing for Kawhi as a leading candidate; I still think it’s way too early to call but he has been a very productive player for the Spurs ( defensively and offensively), and he is also very consistent. One scary fact is that he has polished his offense even more this summer with “the Black Mamba”, and you can clearly see glimpses of what may have taken place, see the video below and let me know what you guys think.
Another thing I’m doing this season, is checking out the sneakers players will wear more frequently. So far, I have spotted the Air Jordan XXXI 31 fine print on Leonard’s feet in the last four games the spurs have played( Last 2 pre season games included).
