During one of my usual mall runs, I spotted a pair that instantly grabbed my attention — the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Shattered Backboard”. You already know I had to check them out and give you a closer look.
The Story Behind the Shoe
This colorway isn’t just a random design. It’s a nod to a legendary moment in MJ’s career — that unforgettable dunk in Italy on August 26th, 1985, where he literally shattered the backboard during an exhibition game in Italy.
Jordan Brand originally paid tribute to that moment with the Air Jordan 1 High “Shattered Backboard” back in 2015 for the 30th anniversary. Since then, they’ve brought the story back in different forms — and this mid-top version keeps that legacy alive.
What’s On the Shoe?
- A mix of black overlays, white panels, and a bold orange Swoosh — clean and striking
- Classic perforated toe box for breathability
- Traditional Wings logo on the collar and Jumpman branding on the tongue
- Padded textile liner for ankle comfort
- Rubber outsole with that familiar circular traction pattern from classic Jordan 1s
Price Check
Retail is $130, which feels a bit steep for a Mid — personally, I think they should’ve stayed around the $110 mark, but hey… inflation is real.
Final Thoughts
I’ll be honest — for a mid, this one really stands out. The colorway is solid, the story behind it adds depth, and it’s got that everyday wearability that makes it easy to rock without overthinking your outfit.
If you’re into kicks with history or just want something fresh with fall-ready vibes, this one’s worth considering.
I’ve dropped a buying link here if you’re looking to grab a pair for yourself below retail
As always, thanks for reading and supporting HousaKicks. Let me know in the comments — do you prefer the Highs or are you good with the Mids?
Catch you on the next one.
